My knowledge was as like others I also have a myth of Addiction which was completely different as we see that, I gained enough knowledge in this one month Orientation program of STOP CAM (NIMHANS) theoretical as well as practical both that how a non medico & a medical practitioner both work with the Addicts. As a person I get involved so much I feel like a part of the system reason behind is that I was involved in every small & big matters related to addiction, I was free to question & answer. The study material, Power Point Presentations, Assessments, lectures, visits etc were very helpful not even in the trainings even after that also.I came to know that addiction is a pediatric problem almost & it is a chronic relapse disease. The knowledge imparted during the training was useful for the Medical Practitioners, Social workers, Psychologists, Clinicians, Counselors in the field of De- Addiction etc, in fact when I Counsel the people of addiction the knowledge give immense help, a VKN Network help to join the people across the World for a cause. The people helped me in each & every case, workshop etc I took in addiction even after the trainings. Training was very helpful for my Professional life still I can’t stop myself by saying that the best time of learning I had in the training was when i visits Out & In Patient Departments. Thank you a fully dedicated team of CAM working on a social cause & all the best for future endeavors for choosing a biggest issue of our Country as your career goal .

My knowledge about addiction( and the biological facts behind it ) was very basic before attending the orientation programme. All that I knew were it's implications and how a functioning individual becomes dysfunctional. The classroom presentations, live expert discussions , ward rounds and various other activities helped in creating tremendous amount of awareness about what should be done and what not. The most important message that came across is the fact that a person suffering from addiction is not consciously fooling around with his/her life but the condition has to be treated with empathy just like other diseases as there are biological changes that have occurred due to consistent abuse of substance. This has given me tools to assess and plan interventions appropriate to the individual's issue. The dedication of the Doctors and all those associated with the programme is commendable!! Besides the knowledge, I also made some good friends during the course.

Before doing this programme I was uncomfortable or rather angry with people having these kind of addictions, especially alcohol. But your programme has made me think a lot and I don't get angry with such people now and I think this is a big achievement of your teachings/training programme.
I would also take this opportunity to tell you that I was amazed and touched by the sincerity, humility and dedication of your entire team towards your goal. I thoroughly enjoyed the case discussions. Interacting with the patients in the wards and in the OPD has given me lot of confidence and a huge sense of responsibility towards such people.

It was my second stint in the department of addiction medicine as a trainee..
What I gained in that one month was the hands on training where we could take and present cases and be a part of the discussion. I had already done the theory part when I came here with Himachal Pradesh doctors. The course is great for medical and non medical professionals who are dealing with substance abuse.
A little more interaction with patients would be better.
The entire team is ever ready to help and answer questions. It has been a pleasure to learn.
Hoping to see you guys for yet another course.
